Naw Transport is a family business with roots dating back over 75 years.
Mr. George Muscat was not only the founder of Naw Transport but also a pioneer who changed the country’s transport system. The name he gave to the business comes from an old story.
Being living in a small village called Naxxar, people used to know each other by a nickname and therefore, they used to call him TAN-NAW. The name given by the people living in the village inspired him and an idea came into his mind and then he decided to start a family business to represent this tradition.
Hence, he began focusing on the laying of good quality transport in a socially responsible way together with his brother.

Mr. Muscat entered the business world running a local bus which the transport at that time was a point-to-point from Birkinkara agenda to Valletta. Afterward, he decided to build his bus on the tourist coach which was the second coach. Mr. Muscat and his brother got into the business and after running for some years the Maltese transport bus network Tallijna buses (Tallijna in Maltese means line. Indeed, a long time ago in Malta, they used to go in the same line) they sold the old buses completely shifted the business to private coaches.
Therefore, he branded his business as Naw Transport and started expanding the company by acquiring coaches and increasing the workforce. The demand for vehicle hire kept rising by tourists, especially American and English people that that time was used to come to Malta, and adding the growth of the tourism sector required new and innovative ideas. The primary services offered were from tourists were from hotels to the airport and vice versa, especially excursions to Gozo.
THE CHANGE IN THE COMPANY- FROM COACHES TO MINIBUSES

The company boasted a dynamic family team of skilled business experts in their fields which they have garnered over their many years of experience. They also used to provide the maintenance of the buses on their own without relying on any mechanics because they had a big garage and they used split the work between them.
Lately, the company, formerly managed by Mr. Gerorge Muscat was taken over by Paul Muscat who in turn handed over the operations and management to his daughter Mariella Muscat and her brother Kevin Muscat. Mariella and her brother brought about new ideas and a new vision for the company. Indeed, Mr. Paul Muscat kept running the businesses focused on coaches, however, the new generation built by his daughter and her brother came along with a new business adventure and expanded the business even further. Recently, the business has seen an expansion and growth in other sectors providing the company with a fresh change.
In 2021, Mariella Muscat, Mr. Paul Muscat’s daughter, and her brother got the first minibus and they tried out to see if this change would have been achievable. The services that they offered when they got minibusses were mostly schools trips, students airport transfers, full-day tours, excursions to Gozo.

Presently, the fourth generation of Naw Transport, Paul Muscat s daughter, Mariella Muscat in the role of director is building upon the company’s reputation as the leading provider of minibus services supported by her brother and her father since the family has been in the business for a long time. Naw Transport is a family-run business, which means that the father knows the industry since has been working on it for a long time and the children have now inherited the passion for doing transport in malta. Indeed, the family is happy together and proud to be in the service. When a new client purchases a service transport with Naw Transport, he has the main advantage to meet a driver who has been working in the company for a long time and therefore, he knows the history of Malta and the best spot in Malta to give punctual directions. The owner is someone the customers can talk to and if the customers have some feedback they can directly communicate with the owner. After all, he has so much hands-on in the system because he speaks on regular basis with the driver, and therefore he is involved in the day-to-day running of the run business itself.

The company is located in Naxxar and owns a garage of around 3 acres, where maintenance and daily upkeep of the vehicles is held. The fleet consists of 50 vehicles (ranging from 4 own coaches, 43 standard and executive chauffeur coaches as a part of the network on the Island and 7 minibusses). George Muscat was one of the founders of a network of coaches that today manages most of the coaching transport in Malta.

The main aim of the business is to keep the school’s trips and expand the company in specific areas such as shuttle services, partnering with some restaurants so the company offers the shuttle services to their customers and in exchange, the customers receive some packages with restaurants such as discounts. Indeed, the customers they go to Naw Transport website, do not book only the transport with bus services, in fact, they also have the opportunity to book an amazing excursion around the beautiful Island of Malta or Gozo.
Moreover, the last investment was partnering with some partners to offer packages with land transports and sea excursions as well as using the traditional and colorful luzzu services in Marsaslook.
